An air ambulance is a private jet or aircraft that has been fitted out with a medical stretcher and equipment to carry out medical evacuations/medevacs/medivacs, which is a method of transporting patients who are too ill to travel long distances by ground ambulance or by commercial airline.
Air ambulances have been specially equipped for a patient that requires extensive or urgent medical assistance during transportation. They offer a full ICU setup (stretchers, bases with power and oxygen, and medical equipment). It is the safest and quickest travel option for patients who are too sick or weak to endure the rigours of commercial flights or from remote locations with no direct flights.
Heart attacks, strokes, trauma, and pulmonary problems are all common reasons travelers need emergency medical assistance, as well as cases where low altitude flights are required such as the bends. And because private jets and air ambulances can use many more airports than commercial airlines, and often fly more direct routes, air ambulances can pick up a patient from the closest airport to the treating hospital and land at the closest airport to the receiving hospitals.
At MEDEVAC.FLIGHTS we ensure that the aircraft is manned by highly skilled medical flight crew including a doctor and a nurse (sometimes a third medical professional is also included depending on the medical case and/or the length of the air ambulance journey). All aircraft we use, utilise state-of-the-art lifter/ loader systems to ensure quick loading and unloading of patients with no manual lifting while providing the highest level of safety possible.
We have equipped each jet with the highest standard of medical equipment, specially purposed for the environments in which we operate. MEDEVAC.FLIGHTS complies with aviation and road transport standards, and where possible utilises equipment currently used by the referring and receiving hospitals.
Clinical staff are well trained for correct storage, handling, use and maintenance of medical equipment. We employ robust equipment management and maintenance. Back- up equipment is always available, and we will continue to upgrade equipment to meet our goal to deliver exceptional care.
At MEDEVAC.FLIGHTS, patient care and safety is our number one concern. We go above and beyond in every measure to bring our patients and their families the peace of mind that they deserve during a very stressful time.
